Summit Academy is extremely proud of its music program spearheaded by well-known Bahamian musician and veteran educator, Mr. Francis Richardson. All students participate in the music program and are exposed to a plethora of instruments. They learn, at minimum, how to play the recorder. Students in grades 4-6 may opt for the clarinet in lieu of the recorder. Students who receive external instruction in other instruments are strongly encouraged to bring them to music class.
We are pleased to announce that four of our students performed exceptionally well at the recently held 2016 Clement E. Bethel National Arts Festival. Jack Barr, a sixth grader, placed first in Violin, Taggart Zanetta, a fifth grader, placed first in Viola, Hailey Viken, a sixth grader, placed second in the Recorder and Shari Smith, a sixth grader, placed fifth in the Recorder. We are incredibly proud of our young musicians, particularly since it was our school’s first time entering the competition! The best is yet to come!
